iPhone Duo Is Official: Apple's First Foldable Phone Starts at $1,999
Apple finally made a foldable phone. After years of nothing but rumors and leaked renders, the iPhone Duo was officially announced on September 9 — and honestly, it looks like Apple deliberately waited until foldable display tech was actually mature before jumping in.
More Than Just a Fold
What sets the iPhone Duo apart: closed, the 5.4-inch outer display already covers 90% of the iPhone 18 Pro's screen area, so it doesn't feel "lesser" while shut. Open it up and you get a 7.6-inch inner display with a nano-texture finish that's supposed to cut down on glare. Apple's calling it the thinnest iPhone they've ever made when unfolded. Bold claim, but looking at the official photos... yeah, it does look thin.
Under the Hood, and the Cameras
Inside is the A20 Pro chip, paired with a custom vapor chamber and a dual-battery setup to keep things stable under load. The main camera is a 48MP Dual Fusion system with up to 2x optical-quality zoom. What's actually more interesting is the outer display's 12MP Center Stage camera, which can shoot 4K Dolby Vision video — so you can still get a decent shot even with the phone folded shut.
Battery life is rated at 31 hours of video on the inner display, or 44 hours using just the outer one. Charging's quick too: 20 minutes gets you to 50%.
Now, About the Price
This is the part that caught a lot of people off guard. Global pricing starts at $1,999 for the 256GB model and climbs to $3,199 for 2TB. Bloomberg even called it one of the most expensive iPhones Apple has ever released — though given foldables are always priced at a premium, that's not exactly shocking.
Indonesia pricing hasn't been announced yet. But going by the usual import duty and tax markup, local outlets like CNN Indonesia are already estimating it could start around Rp40 million for the base model, and pass Rp60 million for the top storage tier.
